Bayport Ghana: Helping students further their education
In September 2007, Bayport Financial Services Ghana started a Scholarship Award Scheme for students that have done very well in their studies but are unable to afford further education. The Scholarship Award Scheme finds the most talented students across the country by supporting all ten wards of the Teachers Union. This ensures all students have a chance to win a scholarship.
Each scholarship is given to the student for an eight-year period – four years’ senior high school education and four years’ tertiary education at university, college or polytechnic.
The Scholarship Award Scheme has been very successful and is now awarded every year.
To be awarded a bursary, students must do very well at on their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Students must also come from a financially disadvantaged background.
