Bayport Financial Market

Bayport’s Financial Market Is Africa

Bayport’s financial market is Africa and we are active in South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and Ghana.  Being relatively immature, Bayport’s financial market has demanded a rather different approach to assess and utilise its full worth.  Bayport Financial Services has had to develop a uniquely African approach.

We call this approach The Bayport Way.  The Bayport Way holds that every individual wants to improve him or herself and would do this if they had access to responsible and affordable credit.  This fact is borne out by the statistics: nearly 40 percent of Bayport’s clients use the money they borrow for education and another 20 percent, for home improvements.  We endeavour to make credit available to these people as hassle-free and affordably as possible.  We realise that our local partners are at the core of Bayport’s success, affording us a clear understanding of the local people, their habits, customs and attitudes towards credit.

Africa is also a continent of vast distances and many thousands of people live in rural areas, far away from major cities or Bayport branches.  Therefore, Bayport’s mobile units are entirely self-sufficient; equipped with laptop computers, power generators and printers, they travel to far-flung places to visit and service clients that may live hundreds of kilometres from the nearest Bayport branch.  These people are often teachers or farmers.

The unique Bayport financial market has forced us to adapt and see stepping-stones where rivals saw obstacles.  It is a tribute to the vision of Bayport Financial Services’ management team and the crucial role of local partners that we have been able to make such a great success of our business in Africa.  For more information, contact us.
