Community Projects
In September 2007 Ghana Financial Services established a Scholarship Award Scheme aimed at empowering students that have performed exceptionally well in their studies but are unable afford further tuition. The scheme aims to identify the most talented scholars across the country by supporting all 10 wards of the Teachers Union across all 10 regions, thus enabling all learners across the country chance to win a scholarship.
Each scholarship is awarded to the beneficiary for an 8 year period - four year’s senior high school education, and four year’s tertiary education at university, college or polytechnic.
The scheme has proved so successful since its inception in 2007 that it is now been decided by Ghana Financial Services to award these scholarships annually as a permanent investment in the Ghanaian people and their future.
In total one student from each region is selected each year from the nominations and are sent in by teachers - these are then rigorously reviewed by the Scholarship Awards Scheme Committee.
Key requirements are that learners must excel at their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and that the scholarships must be awarded to students from an economically-disadvantaged background.
Ghana Financial Services does not believe in simply investing in projects for their own sake, but rather seeks to actively empower Ghanaians in their own self-development, and to provide talented economically-disadvantaged individuals with the opportunity to fulfil their hopes, dreams and potential.
