Community Projects
Bayport Tanzania has recognised the vital importance of education and has focused their corporate social investment initiatives towards primary education and youth.
These include:
- Bayport recognizes the key role played by the various union offices of the Tanzanian Teachers Union, and has committed funds for the renovation of the Mbinga District union offices in the highlands region of Mbeya
- In the southern highlands region of Mbeya Bayport financial services has provided a sponsorship Tshs. 7.6 million for the hosting of the Kinondoni district primary schools athletics competition. This event will is to be held at the University of Dar es Salaam from October 25th to October 26th 2008
- Bayport Financial Services is also sponsoring a key one day workshop for a 150 primary school teachers from Kinondoni district to be held on 18 October 2008
- Bayport further identified as a key project, the renovation of the Airport Primary School buildings in Kigoma in the western lake. This project which will be funded by Bayport at a cost of Tshs. 19.7 million will provide vastly improved teaching facilities at Kigoma, and includes the provision of 265 new desks for the school
- Bayport’s focus on education has also led us to identify certain specific needs of disadvantaged individuals who, without external assistance, would have been unable to complete their education and lead productive lives. With the assistance of the Hon. Shaymaa Kwegyir, a Special Seats Member of the Tanzania Parliament, we have been able to identify the special case of two albino sisters who had been severely physically assaulted as a result of their skin pigmentation Bayport has committed fund towards the future upkeep and school fees for both sisters at St. Mary’s boarding school in Mwanza City
